Food Introduction

Introducing baby to food around 6 months of age can be overwhelming for parents and baby. There are multiple approaches that can be utilized for introduction and determining which is best for your child can be a challenge. The success of food introduction is greatly impacted by many factors, like pre-feeding skills, reflex integration, sensory regulation, oral motor skills, oral structures, and swallowing function. In fact, research shows that 25 to 45% of typically developing children and up to 80% of developmentally delayed children have trouble with feeding development (Laurissa, 2015). Let our team of highly skilled and trained feeding therapist support you during this critical stage of development! Our therapists can help you to determine if your child is ready to begin food introduction, the best approach to use to meet their needs, the ideal utensils and tools to support orofacial development, and assess swallowing function and safety! Let our team support your feeding journey, so that you can focus on enjoying every milestone and moment with your child!
